DR JANET FRAISER
Dr.
Frasier was a key player within the SGC. She cured and treated the illnesses
procured by the SGC members on alien worlds. General Hammond enlisted her
as a member of SGC, as he well knew she would be prepared for even major crises.
Without Dr Fraiser's dedication and professionalism, SG-1 could hardly carry out it's missions. In her first year at SGC Janet Fraiser adopted Cassie, a young girl Sam Carter brought back to Earth from a planet destroyed by the Goa'uld.
Janet Fraiser met her untimely demise in the season seven episode, "Heroes Pt. 2."

[JANET'S FAMILY]
Written by Teryl Rothery for the SG-1 Companion
In "Stargate SG-1: The Illustrated Companion Seasons 1 & 2", Teryl wrote her take on Janet & her family. This she created on her own to make the character more real for her.
Basically, she is the oldest of 3 children, with 2 brothers. Teryl picked the names Scott Jameson & Jeffrey Sutton. Her full name is Janet Elizabeth. Her father, Jameson Franklin Fraiser, is a retired Army(!) officer & her mother, Marjorie Kathryn Fraiser, is a homemaker.
Majorie, who everyone (except the kids) calls Kate, is warm & fun-loving. Janet has this too but is also very self-contained like her father.
Janet has always felt like she has to prove herself to her father (who Teryl also sees as a bit of a chauvinist - Jack O'Neill?). This was why she entered the Air Force, went through medical school, & specialized in exotic diseases. (Teryl says he is proud of his daughter but can't express it so Janet keeps pushing herself.)
The best thing that happened to her is Cassandra (presuming we discount Sam...). Or possibly the 2nd best as Teryl sees Janet's divorce as one of the best things she could've done. She was married for three years to a pompus chauvinist. ("Three very long years!!" to quote Teryl.)
Cassandra has let her open herself up and may even be the first time Janet has given herself permission to love.
